How Safe Is Your Data?

This is a simple question.

What would happen if you had a fire, or some other mishap, at your place of business?

Easy, you might say… Insurance would pay for most tangible items; office furniture, desks, computers, etc. But what about your data?

We truly work in the information age. Data is now considered one of most businesses' greatest assets. What would happen if all your data disappeared due to some unforeseen event?

We have received calls from some companies after they had lost data. While we were able to help to varying degrees, after trouble strikes is not the ideal time to think about data safety.

For most companies data is mission critical. Without it, some companies would even cease to function. IT (Information Technology) departments and heads of companies must plan now for data safety and disaster recovery.

Things that companies should consider:

  • Have you identified and prioritized all data that ought to be backed up?

  • Does your data get backed up on a daily basis, weekly or monthly basis?

  • Are your backups being stored off site in case of fire or other potential mishaps at your business?

  • Do you backup your most critical files redundantly?

  • Does your IT department or computer person regularly test restoring data from the backup to verify its integrity?

  • Does your company have and use the latest antivirus software and updates?

  • Is your network protected from outside attacks?

At XTreme Computing we have extensive experience in computer data safety and can help you plan how to best handle these matters. Feel free to contact us, before you lose your data.
